Tim lives on a small farm north of Athens, Georgia, where the land begins to
roll gently into the foothills of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. He
share the farm with his wife Carol and a great number of animals, too
numerous to mention by name but who clearly oversee the homestead.
Tim was born on the banks of the Mississippi River in the Missouri bootheel
and moved frequently as a child. He remembers his first oil painting class
at an Atlanta YMCA during the summer before fifth grade. He and his best
friend Alan surprised their families with their very first "art show" in
that same year. Tim and Alan proudly displayed the nudes they had
painstakingly rendered from Alan's mother´s heretofore carefully hidden
college art texts.
Tim earned the privilege of his own art textbooks, and their accompanying
BFA, from Southern Illinois University. He was an Art Director in the world
of advertising for organizations such as Hallmark Cards and the Gannett CO.
before returning to Georgia to take up painting in earnest.
Tim´s work is displayed in several galleries in the Southeast. His work is
largely focused on what he sees as the spiritual quality of water, devoting
his time to portraying the waters of the mountains as well as the sea and
lowcounty marsh. Tim attributes much of his love for the natural world, and
his ability to talk to horses, to being part Cherokee. |
