Born in 1944, 1959-1963 he became a fine art major, 1964-1969 he furthered his training as he entered a university. In 1975 had his first individual art exhibitions in China.
In 1981 Lee exhibited in the Art & Culture Center in Hong Kong. His works were well received by his peers and art lovers. He gained more recognition and publicity as he won an award for his works by the Hong Kong Art Association for the most Outstanding Contemporary Artist.
Lee continued exhibiting in Hong Kong and China. Eventually, he put on exhibitions in Asia, Europe and some galleries in the United States. Lee now lectures in universities on still-life painting and nature.
He has formed his own "S. Lee" style over his long career. The atmosphere his painting project is derived from his use of light, that is both muted and clear. The different shapes clear close-ups and misty fading into the distance of his work always provides a dramatic atmosphere to his interiors.
